2009 Retirement Made Simpler Survey of Employee Sentiments on Saving for Retirement
RMS conducted a survey in the summer of 2009 to better understand Americans’ attitudes towards saving for retirement, and more specifically, the automatic features of their 401(k) plans, including automatic enrollment and automatic escalation. Employed adults generally view 401(k) plans and automatic enrollment and escalation features in a positive light. Further, people continue to rely on their 401(k) plans as their primary means of saving for retirement, however confidence is low that they are saving enough. Significantly, a majority believe that even if their 401(k) account has lost value in the past year, it is more important than ever to continue to contribute to it. Read the Fact Sheet
IRS on Adding Automatic Enrollment to Section 401(k) Plans

52nd Annual Survey of Profit Sharing and 401(k) Plans

Survey: Strong Bipartisan Support for Automatic IRA
A new Hart Research Associates and AARP survey found that 79 percent of adults are in favor of requiring employers with 10 or more workers that have been in business at least 2 years to offer a retirement plan. Employees would be automatically enrolled, but also given an opportunity to opt-out. US News and World Report
